Dean of Arts and Science Brings International Focus
August 14, 2008 - Dr. Peter Doell became Ambrose University Colleges Dean of Arts and Science in July, 2008.
Dr Doell joined the Behavioural Science Program at Ambrose in 2004 after serving as Academic Dean at Prairie Bible College. Dr Doell taught in the area of sociology before accepting his position as Dean.
As Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science Dr. Doell wants to help internationalize the campus.
"I would like to see the faculty and student body become more representative of other cultures"
Doell said. "Another goal is to see each student have an international experience. Our purpose as Ambrose is to engage redemptively with the world. Since God loves the world, we need to expose students to the needs of others so that we can have an impact on the lives of others."
As an institution, Dr. Doell wants to see Ambrose become a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges in Canada.
"We are now emerging as a recognized player in the educational field. We are proving that faith and excellence in education can be held in common," Dr. Doell said.
Immediate goals include helping Dr. Bernie Potvin move the Bachelor of Education Program through the accreditation process. He sees the education degree as a significant opportunity to place Ambrose students in the marketplace.
As Dean of Arts and Science, Dr. Doell's immediate priority is to complete the Campus Alberta Quality Council's five-year re-accreditation self-study this fall.
Dr Doell is both energized and challenged by his role as Dean of Arts and Science as Ambrose enters its first year on the new campus.
