Spiritual Formation
We are convinced that as we are studying and training we need to grow in all areas of our lives – mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
In this vein we focus on the Spiritual formation of our students here at Ambrose. Through programs and services we endeavor to foster the spiritual development of all of our students. Although none of these services are mandatory that are strongly recommended because we believe these services are what helps distinguish us as an educational institution that is distinctly Christian.
- Chapels - Our chapel program is designed to be a place that students will want to come and engage with God in community. Our sole purpose for chapel is to help students take the 45 minutes we have for every chapel to engage with God for life change. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:15am – 12:00pm. Students play a crucial role in the planning and implementation of our chapels. A few ways we do this are through our music, creative, and drama teams.
- Music teams - Music is a great way to worship our God! Our music for chapel is completely student planned and led. We strive to help students use their gifts and abilities, in the area of music, to lead others in worship during our chapels. Our students lead us in worship through music using a variety of styles and instruments.
- Creative Team - This team is new for us this year! We are striving to incorporate all the arts into worship. This team of students helps utilize the arts by brainstorming and helping to create many different ways of engaging with God in worship – art, dance, drama, video, audio, interactive and experiential worship stations, etc.
- Drama Team - This team is new for us this year! Its one thing to hear about what it means to follow Jesus but it’s another thing to see it acted out through skits. Through this team we are endeavoring to incorporate dramas into our chapels in order to further connect with the theme and help students connect with God.
- Small Groups - We believe that a key way we develop spiritually is through community. For this we have small groups that are student led and student formed in our residence and for our commuter students. Our Undergrad Student Council also helps to encourage students to lead and join a small group in order to foster spiritual formation
- Community Days - Twice a year we take a day to cancel classes and, as a campus, get together to focus on what it means to follow Jesus. These days are community oriented and driven by a student focus.
- Missions Emphasis Day - This day is during our Fall Semester. The purpose for this community day is to: help students develop a heart for what God is doing around the world; and to encourage students to consider going on a short term mission trip or even a longer term trip somewhere in our world.
- Spiritual Emphasis Day - This day is during our Winter Semester. The purpose for this day is to: create a retreat where students take a look at their spiritual life to see what their next step is on their journey of following Jesus; and to simply have some time to connect with God for life change.
