Lions come from behind to beat Trojans

It was a grind it out kind of game for the Lions this evening as they took on local rival SAIT.  Playing on a Thursday night, both teams had to establish a bit of a different routine than their normal Friday or Saturday game preparation.   SAIT quickly got out to a 2-0 set lead, however Ambrose showed their fight tonight and clawed back to win 3–2.

Briercrest beats Lions in 3 sets

Day two of the matchup between Briercrest College and the Ambrose Lions saw an evenly matched start with Briercrest controlling the pace of the game through a varied offense.  Briercrest middles Mikayla Benterud and Faith Buhler got a number of hits early in the first set, forcing Ambrose middles to respect them and not cheat to the outside.

Lions Narrowly Defeated by Queens

After starting the season 3-0, the Lions faced arguably their toughest opponent of the season so far, the Red Deer Queens. While the Lions were up 2 sets to 1 and were looking good in the fourth set, strong play from the Queens resulted in a 5th set loss.  The Queens had a strong start in the first set against the Ambrose Lions and brought a battle to the Lions throughout the rest of the game.

Lions upset by Broncos

Tonight's match-up saw the 1-8 Lions challenge the 0-6 Broncos.  Since entering the ACAC, the Lions and Broncos have always played each other tough and tonight was no different.  Mounting injuries along with a level of play that they won't be proud of resulting in Olds winning their first game of the season (and first ACAC regular season game in nearly 3 years).
