This year, the annual Downey Lectureship series will be held on October 16 and 17. Presenting the lectures this year is Dr. Elaine Storkey, who will speak on the global pandemic of violence against women and how we can work towards ending this issue. Details for the lectures are as follows:

Wednesday, October 16  •  7:30 pm  •  Lecture 1

Sketching the global pandemic of violence against women, Dr. Storkey will discuss both the scope and the gravity of the issue.

About the Author
Dr. Elaine Storkey is a philosopher, sociologist, and theologian, who has held university posts at Kings College, London, Stirling, Oxford, Calvin College USA, and the Open University. Her writing includes over a dozen books and hundreds of journal articles. Her most recent book, Scars Across Humanity: Understanding and Overcoming Violence Against Women. For 28 years she served on the General Synod of the Church of England and has acted as Archbishop’s adviser, delegate to the World Council of Churches, and on many Boards and Commissions. Dr. Elaine Storkey was President of Tearfund between 1997 and 2013.
