Lions Score Big in Win vs Kings

The Ambrose Lions offensive was too much for the Red Deer Kings tonight, as the Lions won by 16.  Both Isaacs for the Lions shot extremely well from 3 point range, going a combined 8-15.  Tonight the Lions celebrated Linden Jackson scoring over 1000 points in his career, however didn't have to depend on him or anyone else to take over offensively. 5 of the Lions scored double digit points, with Nhail Phillip leading the team with 20.  For Red Deer's Tyronn King and Spencer Klassen lead the way offensively, with Spencer leading the team with 22, good enough for the Kings Player of the Game.

Tonight's game started close with the Ambrose having a 1 point lead after the first quarter.  Phillip started to assert himself in the paint in the 2nd quarter, scoring 10 of his points by shooting a perfect 4-4 from the field.  At half the Lions lead 50-40.  The 3rd quarter saw Ambrose extend their lead by another 10 points, thanks to 7, 3's falling for them.

In the 4th quarter, Tyronn King found his range from 4 as quickly, the Kings started to make a push and cut into the Lions lead.  Ultimately it was too little, too late for the Kings as while they forced the Lions to play sharp in the 4th quarter, they couldn't overcome the deficit.

With the win, the Lions move to within 1 game of clinching their 2nd straight playoff berth.    Tune into ACACTV or watch these two teams re-match tomorrow in Red Deer.
