Lions Soccer Gets a Big Win
This completes a plan, started by past Athletic Director Ryan Willison, to get Ambrose basketball, volleyball, and soccer into the ACAC. Ambrose will continue with their competition in the futsal (indoor soccer) season and are excited for how the transition to outdoor play will offer a more year-round program for their “footy” athletes.
Athletic Director Colin Kubinec offered these words, “We are extremely excited to be accepted into the ACAC for outdoor soccer and to continue to experience the growth of our athletics program. The ACAC has a vibrant outdoor soccer league and we are really looking forward to competing against other well established programs. We have just hired two new coaches and we are excited about how Reaghan and Adam, with their passion and mission mindset, will lead us into ACAC outdoor. Entering the outdoor league will be a big step for our soccer program, and we are excited to keep growing our mission of ‘Pursuing Excellence, Building Family, Becoming Disciples’ as we compete in the world’s most popular sport.”
Reaghan Zilkie will be the Women’s Head Coach and comes with playing experience at both the NCAA and USport levels. Her drive, determination, taste of high performance soccer and understanding of “what it takes” will be great additions to the program. She also has a heart for athlete holistic development and is a great mission fit with Ambrose. Reaghan was an assistant coach for the Lions Women’s Futsal team last year.
Adam Monkman comes to the “Lions' Pride” with his CSA Provincial “C” License and is working on his “B” License. He has experience as an Assistant Coach with the Alberta Soccer Association Provincial Team programs and in other grassroots programs. Adam has a deep passion for coaching and a hunger to be the best he can be. He has experience in many leadership roles, does Leadership Coaching, and will bring solid mentorship to his athletes.
