Biography

Chantal received her early training in ballet and modern dance at Crossings Dance, and performance experience with Corps Bara Dance Theatre in Calgary. She then went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Dance, with an emphasis on Kinesiology, at The University of Calgary under the mentorship of Davida Monk, Michellé Moss and Melissa Monteros. She then completed her Master of Fine Arts in Dance Choreography and received a College Teaching Certificate from The University of Arizona. Her Graduate Studies mentors were Douglas Nielsen, previous contemporary dancer with Batsheva Dance Company and Michael Williams, jazz dancer with Gus Giordano Dance Company. During this time she gained experience in such areas as collegiate teaching, choreographic practices and dance performance/training. Chantal then worked as Artistic Director for Corps Bara Dance Theatre's Professional Company for four years and spent two years teaching dance and movement for actors at Rocky Mountain College. The last few years she has been substitute teaching at Crossings Dance and Alberta Ballet, choreographing for Corps Bara Dance Theatre and Crossings Youth Dance Company, and chasing after her three curly haired kids.
