Dan and Melodie both sensed the call of God to serve in missions when they were children. Dan initially enrolled at Moody Bible Institute in the missionary aviation program but discovered that his gifts and interest were in teaching and leadership development. The Ibsens met at the University of Alberta and continued their road to missions together. They pastored in a church planting ministry in Westlock, Alberta, for five years before going overseas. Dan and Melodie have served 31 years in Guinea, West Africa. Ministries included TEE (Theological Education by Extension), field leadership, Bible School module courses, home schooling cooperative, seminars and church ministries, and training and mentoring interns, apprentices and new workers. They have four children; two are serving at Dakar Academy, one in Niger with Movein, and one in Haiti with Amoveo in community development. Their retirement strategy will be to travel to visit kids and grandkids!
