Church Ministry
Transform yourself to transform the church. You will form character and develop skills to lead in a variety of pastoral positions. You will dive into how societal trends influence the church and the way we lead it. You will go deeper into biblical literacy, theology and how to impact culture inside and outside the church. Your practicum and full-time internship will give you real world experience and the confidence to lead.
Effectively lead in a variety of pastoral positions through our Bachelor of Theology Church Ministry. Understand how societal trends influence church ministry while learning to lead and transform congregations in a holistic and scripturally sound way. This program will help to At Ambrose, you will expand your biblical literacy, reflect on theology, and undergo personal, spiritual and professional formation. Within this program, you will also complete both a practicum and a full-time internship, completely preparing you for life after graduation.
In your second year, you will start a practicum of 5 ‐ 6 hours per week in a church or organization. Then, before the final year of your program, you will do a 5 ‐ 12 month full‐time internship. This hands‐on experience will give you insight into the world of professional ministry. By meeting with a mentor and reflecting on your experiences, you will further improve your ministry practice and figure out how best to apply the things you have learned in your classes to the real world.
Church Ministry is a four-year, 120-credit program. This includes a 5-12 month internship and practicum. This timeline is based on a full course load (five courses/semester) with courses usually being three credits. To be considered a full-time student, you must be taking 3-5 courses per semester.
With a Bachelor of Theology degree, you will be equipped to serve as a committed, competent ministry professional in an ever‐changing culture. You will also be on the right track to pursue seminary studies. Here is a sampling of the jobs our alumni have pursued upon graduation:

ICS 205 Intercultural Competence
Foundational principles and necessary skills for effective communication between people based on an understanding of culture and worldview. Attention will be given to the impact of culture shaping worldview, communication, thinking, values and verbal and non-verbal behaviour and the important role of social, cultural and historical contexts in human interactions.
PST 307 Evangelism and Discipleship in the Church
Biblical and historical models for making disciples in changing cultural contexts. Principles of personal spiritual formation are applied using strength-based mentoring.
PST 301 Homiletics
Principles of constructing and delivering expository sermons. Students will preach in class for evaluation by instructor and peers.
HI 263 History of Christianity
An introduction to the global history of Christianity, with emphasis on the social and cultural context in which Christian beliefs, practices, and institutions developed.
BUS 305 Management of Non-Profit Organizations

Nonprofits are an important part of our society, operate in many diverse areas of our economy, and are important for the initiation and implementation of many government programs and services. It has been recognized that one of the biggest issues facing the nonprofit sector today is the quality of management.
