Residence Requirement and Deposit Information 

Attn: Female applicants - please note that there is currently a waitlist for undergrad female rooms (1st and 2nd year).  Your application will be put on the waitlist should you still choose to apply.  

All full-time (9 credit hours per semester or more), first year students under the age of 21 are required to live in residence.

Exemptions include:

  • Students who are currently a resident of the greater Calgary area living with their parents/guardians.
  • Students who are married.
  • Transfer students with 30 or more credit hours from another accredited post-secondary institution.

To reserve a spot, all residence students must submit a completed Residence Application and a $400 deposit, even if they are required to live in Residence. Applications will not be registered until we confirm that we received your deposit. Please submit applications and your deposit by June 15th.  If you would like to withdraw your residence application, please notify the RD in writing before June 15th in order to receive your full damage deposit back. There will be a $50.00 late fee for those who do not register before September 1.

International Students with a valid student visa are eligible for Alberta Health Care.  You can apply within the first 3 months of arriving in Canada.  Please note that Alberta Health covers basic health and does not cover dental treatment or prescription drugs.

Your Residence Experience:

To assist in room placements and to help our staff provide the best residence experience for all, please respond to the following questions.

For the following questions, please select the appropriate number between the two extremes:
Where 1 indicates only by invite and 10 indicates constant company.
Where 1 indicates going to bed fairly early and 10 indicates a night owl.
Where 1 indicates a quiet area alone and 10 indicates study time around loud music and plenty of friends.
Where 1 indicates spotless and 10 indicates messy.

Meal Plan

Ambrose meal plans work on a declining balance system, where the student only pays for the food he or she purchases.  A meal plan in required for all residence students.  

Please indicate below which meal plan option you would like to select.


  • Unspent funds carry over from Fall semester to Winter semester.
  • Winter semester provides the opportunity to change your option and choose a third:

                        $1275 - no flex dollars (provides a student $17/day, 5 days/week, 15 weeks/semester)

  • Unused amounts up to $500 per semester may be deposited into a future year meal plan or into your flex dollars or refunded by written email request.
  • All meal plan purchases are GST exempt.
  • Meal Plan exemptions may be granted for medical conditions that Food Services is unable to accommodate.  Please email for more information. 
  • Rates and Policy subject to change.  

* Flex dollars can be used at various locations including the Snackbar, Dominos and Waves Coffee Shop.
