Residence Life 2020-2021 COVID-19 Notice
We are preparing and praying for a great year in residence at Ambrose University. We have been busy working on plans for Residence Life with COVID-19 in mind. Residence at Ambrose University is a great place to experience a meaningful community and build lasting friendships. We desire to serve our students and to prioritize safety in our residence halls. We also want to make things as simple as possible so you can make your plans for the next academic year. Therefore, we want to highlight some important items and changes that will be in effect for Residence during the 2020-2021 year.
Single Room Only
In consideration of suggested COVID-19 physical distancing practices, we will be providing single rooms for the 2020-2021 academic year. Therefore, students will not have the option of double or triple rooms with roommates. This, in effect, provides students with their personal space and a shared bathroom with one other student.
The meal plan will provide each resident student with breakfast, lunch and supper options. The declining balance card will not be in effect for this academic year. The food services department is hard at work to determine how to provide these services with the restrictions placed due to COVID-19.
The University has decided to provide an all-inclusive room and board fee for the 2020-2021 academic year. This fee covers your room costs, meal plan, flex dollars, laundry and Wi-Fi. The residence fee is $3,950 per semester.
Residence Life Community Standards 2020-2021
We have updated our Residence Life Community Standards for this unique year and there are some changes to help flatten the curve and stop the spread of the virus. The updated Residence Life Community Standards can be found here, as well as on the Residence Life webpage and online application.
If a case of COVID-19 arises in our residence pods we will enact protocol procedures to keep students safe and limit the spread. We have set aside rooms for students who need to be in isolation which includes any student who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Students are responsible to foster a safe residence environment by following the Residence Life Community Standards and AHS guidelines. There may also be the need if there is confirmed contact with someone with COVID-19 or a residence outbreak to isolate a pod or residence building. Procedures will be enacted to care for each student affected. Provisions and services will be determined and communicated.
Residence Refund Policy
With this unique year, we are committed to keeping residence open and caring for students as they study at Ambrose University. Living in residence will be a full semester commitment, much like a lease agreement. We will not be offering refunds if a student decides to leave early. If there is a unique situation where we would ask you to move out early Ambrose University would provide a pro-rated refund.
It is important to apply as soon as you can because we have limited rooms available as we cannot house as many students as usual. We process applications on a first-come, first-served basis. Please keep in mind that first-year students will have priority to guarantee a spot per the residence requirement.
We are committed to creating an excellent community as we have in the past. The year ahead will be unique but community and connection is important for first-year students and an important feature of the Ambrose experience. We are here for you and are available for any questions you may have.
