The Commuter Life Program is committed to establishing an atmosphere of community and belonging among commuter students.
Monique Verhoef, who is the Director of Community Life oversees the program with the support of a Senior Commuter Life Leader and other Student Commuter Life Leaders (CLL’s).
The Watkins Commuter Collegium:
The Watkins Commuter Collegium is a beautiful and welcoming space designated as a ‘home away from home’ for commuter students, with learning goals committed to creating intentional relationships, a sense of belonging and broader educational experiences. The collegium has been specifically designed to be a home-life environment with high end features including a kitchen area with fridge, sink & microwaves; tables & seating for study & group work and 3 comfortable living room areas for social interaction. The coffee is always on and freely available for members.
The hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and will be closed for all major holidays. Hours are occasionally subject to change due to fluctuating student leader schedules. The Collegium functions as both a quiet place for students to study and relax as well as a social environment for fun, community building and intentional and meaningful educational programs.
Membership to the Watkins Commuter Collegium is open to all undergraduate commuter students. Registration is $25.00 per semester and includes the signing of a covenant agreeing to act responsibly and respectfully to each other and the physical space. Members are welcome to bring in a guest (includes residential students).
When you sign up for membership you will become a member for the entire school year. If you wish to withdraw from membership you can fill out this form . Withdraw dates from the collegium are the same as the withdrawal dates for classes. Refunds for membership will not be honoured after the fall and winter drop dates respectively.
