Trojans hold onto early lead to beat Lions

Coming off of their best performances last weekend vs Briercrest, the Lions looked to keep their winning streak going vs the SAIT Trojans.  While SAIT jumped out to an early 10 point lead, even though they played a really strong game after the first quarter, no enough shoots would fall for Ambrose to be able to overcome this deficit.

Credit to SAIT, they played a really strong team defensive, forcing Ambrose into tough shots all night long.  Anegor Wol & Rachel Osczevski & Richina Foggo all played tremendous games, using their strengths to their advantage. The Trojans controlled in the paint while still being able to close out against Ambrose's top 3 point shooters.

Tegan McArthur led the Lions in points, with 13 while Sarah Burnell scored another 10.

Interestingly, the Trojans didn't make a single 3 pointer all game long, shooting 0-6 from the floor.   While the teams did have similar shooting %'s, the difference was in the amount of possessions the Trojans were able to have thanks to steals and forcing the Lions to turn the ball over.  Even on missed shots, the Trojans ability to get to the free throw line more than the Lions tonight also helped their cause.

While both of these teams are no longer in the playoff chase, they both play again next week, SAIT against Medicine Hat and Ambrose takes on Red Deer.
