What Do We Do?
Need help with a stats assignment? Puzzled by a reaction in O. Chem? Not sure you’ve quite got Hegel’s view of metaphysics figured out? Sign up for free help through Ambrose’s tutoring services.
Meet with a tutor face-to-face for help in understanding and applying concepts from your classes. Whether you’re working on an assignment or prepping for an exam, our tutors can help you understand course material better by coaching you through practice problems or explaining tricky concepts.
To get started, just submit an application. We’ll match you up with a peer tutor who has already taken and succeeded in the specific class you’d like help with, someone who understands the subject material and can share tips and resources with you. Your tutor will contact you to set up an initial appointment. If you need more help, you can continue to meet with the same tutor throughout the term.
Before you sign up, read through these important notes:
Come prepared to learn actively! To make sure you get the greatest benefit from your consultation, your tutor will work with you, not for you.
If you’d like help with a specific task, remember to bring any information your instructor has given you (i.e., the exercise, your class notes, the syllabus).
You can schedule up to one hour of tutoring per course per week. You can split your hour into two 30-minute blocks, or you can use it all at once. Please note that you cannot carry unused tutoring hours from week to week. If you require more time, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org to explain why you need additional support.
Consultations must occur between 8:00a and 8:00p, Monday through Saturday and they must be held in the main academic building on the Ambrose campus.
All consultations must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
Peer-Led Study Sessions
This year, our tutors will be leading study sessions for two courses in the BHS program: BHS 410 Basic Multivariate Statistics (Fall 2016) and BHS 310 Quantitative Methods for Behavioural Science (Winter 2017). During these sessions, held during lab time, peer tutors will work with students in small groups or individually to help them solve problems or work on assignments.
Study sessions are run on a drop-in basis.
Cost: FREE for students in BHS 410 and BHS 310.
To schedule a one-to-one consultation, submit an application here. Next thing you know, you’ll hear from a peer tutor with expertise in your area.
