Ambrose Arts Audition Day

Current students and faculty welcome prospective students to a Q&A panel during Audition Day

Every semester at Ambrose Arts, we welcome prospective Arts students for Audition Day to do entrance auditions, tour the campus, and meet current students and faculty. On November 21 our regular Tuesday afternoon Arts Lab was opened up to give these prospective students a glimpse into the community at Ambrose Arts. Current students Kristin, Alejandro, Jackson, and Joanna participated in a Q&A panel, answering questions about studying in the Arts at Ambrose. Joanna was looking for a school with a nurturing environment, tight knit community, supportive faculty & staff, and strong music program – Ambrose aligns with what she was looking for. Jackson discovered during his time at Ambrose that “there’s a future for me in music!” Kristin admits that “it’s a lot of hard work emotionally and physically being fully present in what you’re doing” but “you’re here because you want to be so give it 100%!” Alejandro plans to do an education degree next: “It makes me passionate to have the chance to teach somebody else what I have learned.”

When asked whether they have words of wisdom or myths they’d like to dispel for those auditioning today, our current students were happy to share. Jackson initially thought that there’s no money in music but learned that “there is money for artists if you know where to look for it” and he appreciates the entrepreneurship and vocational skills he’s developed at Ambrose to be able to do just that. Joanna encouraged the students to ask questions and reach out to people rather than trying to figure things out solo. Alejandro offered the caution not to give in to the pressure and self-doubt that leads artists to compare themselves against their peers. Instead, he advised our guests to “enjoy and don’t fall out of love with music.” Kristin is enrolled in our acting diploma and her words of wisdom were that “with art it’s so personal. Learn to let it go! It’s a hindrance to hold yourself back or think you can plan how everything is going to go.”

We are so pleased to have had such thoughtful and engaged students participate in our panel, and we look forward to discovering the gifts and callings of our incoming students in Fall 2024.
