Hiring: Lions’ Store Casual Student Employee

Position Summary

The student employee is responsible for opening the store on game nights and other events (e.g. Downey Lectureships, Open Houses), operating the cash register, assisting customers, maintaining the organization of the store, and performing small tasks. The position is also responsible for building relationships with both the internal Ambrose community and external community members who come to visit the store.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing the store
  • Operating the register, settling totals at the end of the day
  • Demonstrating a knowledge of store operations and assisting customers
  • Preparing the store for the next day of sales
  • Maintaining a tidy and professional store
  • Creating social media posts

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Must be enrolled as a student in the 2022-2023 academic year at Ambrose
  • Retail and/or customer service experience an asset
  • Competency with computers and social media

  • High energy level that is reflected in good work habits and sound work ethic
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Proven ability to work without supervision
  • Positive, approachable and friendly disposition
  • Sensitivity and ability to work with a diversity of people and cultural groups
  • Excellent verbal, written, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Adaptable and able to function effectively in a busy and challenging work environment
  • Strong, and able to lift heavy objects (i.e. boxes of books)
