Conversations on Calgary Work Integrated Learning: A Community Led Journey

On November 6, 2023 Calgary Economic Development & TalentED YYC hosted a workshop at Ambrose University which saw participants from Calgary’s post secondary institutions come together for “Conversations on Calgary Work Integrated Learning: A Community Led Journey.” Staff and faculty who are invested in Work Integrated Learning (WIL) from Alberta University of the Arts, Ambrose, Bow Valley College, Mount Royal University, St. Mary’s University, SAIT, and the University of Calgary had lively discussions around the opportunities and challenges at hand for growing quality WIL in Alberta. Connection points between institutions were reinforced, as participants collaborated on key issues and questions currently at play in developing and expanding WIL – both in specific institutional contexts as well as within Alberta generally. Employer engagement, student and institutional awareness, and accessing resources for WIL were all brought to the table.
