PS 310 Motivation and Emotion

Body

This course will consider why people do the things they do and explore where the motivational sense of “want to” originates. Lectures will concentrate on major concepts, models, theories and research. We will consider how motivation and emotion influence eating, aggression/retaliation, sensation-seeking, creativity, achievement, affiliation, development of possible selves, self-regulation, and coping with stress. An additional focus will be the application of principles of motivation to applied settings, such as schools, workplace, athletic realms, and counseling.
