As we approach Alberta’s Stage 3 reopening, we are excited to welcome students back to campus!

While we prepare for our campus to be fully open in the fall, we know that some may have concerns about restrictions being fully lifted and how that will translate to being on campus. The projected date for Stage 3 is late June or early July, which means we will very likely be in Stage 3 at the beginning of the Fall 2021 semester. Visit alberta.ca for complete details on restrictions.

CLASS SCHEDULING

Given the success of last year in offering in-person, hybrid and online courses to serve our students, we will continue to provide a variety of offerings depending on the course specifics, however, a number of courses will now be able to be completely in-person as originally designed. We are committed to providing an excellent university experience in the classroom that is safe for all of our students.

COMMUNITY & SPIRITUAL LIFE

Under Stage 3 regulations, all provincial restrictions are projected to be lifted including the ban on indoor social gatherings. We are actively planning on what this will mean for our Student Life and Chapel activities.

We anticipate the cafeteria seating area to be at full capacity and our community spaces to be open - residence hall pods, common areas and commuter lounges will be furnished. We are committed to creating safe spaces for students to enjoy community activities and will encourage safe practices when gathering in groups. Residence rooms will remain at single occupancy, however, pods, games rooms, media lounges, and study spaces will be open.

Lions Athletics, campus recreation and fitness activities will begin to re-open with a September 17 soccer season opener. Basketball and Volleyball competition will begin in November.

It is anticipated that a quarantine period for those coming to Ambrose from outside of Canada may still be in effect and students should plan accordingly. International travel information can be found here https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid. Email international@ambrose.edu with any questions and for guidance in following protocols.

HEALTH & SAFETY

We want our students to have a safe and healthy learning experience, and we all benefit in achieving that goal from the highest level of vaccination coverage possible. While a COVID-19 vaccine is not required to enroll at Ambrose, we strongly recommend that anyone coming to campus be fully vaccinated – book your shot by calling 811, contacting a pharmacy, or booking online through the Alberta Health Services website. For our out of province students, please contact your local health authority to book your shot.

We will continue to adjust to Alberta Health Services guidelines as they are updated, including practicing frequent hand washing and sanitizing, and self-isolating for those who experience any COVID-19 symptoms. We will also continue to follow AHS guidance and subsequent restrictions in response to COVID-19 cases on campus and as they may arise locally. Isolation requirements for confirmed cases of COVID-19 will remain in place.

While we are looking forward to increasing our in-person community and providing more opportunities for connection as we welcome students back to campus, we recognize that these changes are dependent on the people of the province successfully reaching and maintaining the requirements for Stage 3 as set forth by the Government of Alberta. With this in mind, any forthcoming changes to the Stage 3 reopening will be considered and addressed accordingly.
