This position is 15 to 18 hours per week and is a fixed term position between mid August 2025 and April 2026.

The Coordinator of Chapel Worship is responsible to work with the Campus Pastors to facilitate formative Christian worship at Chapel events. This is done by planning music and liturgy. The role will also include developing student worship teams.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Nurture and engage the hearts, minds, and bodies of chapel worshipers in participative singing and prayer.
    • Facilitate meaningful Christian worship at chapel services by overseeing chapel music that is theologically appropriate.
    • Competence and effectiveness in leading music in worship as both instrumentalist and vocalist.      
    • Work closely with the Campus Pastors to plan and execute services.
    • Invite the Ambrose community to contribute their gifts and abilities by being involved in music teams, prayers, reading scripture, and preaching.
    • When the Christian Worship ensemble is not leading worship, then as instructed by the Campus Pastor, recruit and audition as necessary and schedule worship music teams for chapel and other events throughout the calendar year.
    • When appropriate, lead musical worship at scheduled services.
    • Attend and support Tuesday and Thursday chapel services unless otherwise arranged.
    • Work closely with the Audiovisual (AV) Coordinator to arrange both the set up and take down of chapel.

 

  • Teach/mentor students in the theory and practice of contemporary praise and worship music.
    • Plan and equip student teams to lead worship that forms the community in faith.
    • Lead effective rehearsals.
    • Teach and mentor students in the development of their musical and leadership abilities.

 

Depending upon the educational background and experience of the coordinator, this role may intersect with the Worship Arts Curriculum and include the following additional duties and responsibilities.

 

    • Teach the theory and structure of contemporary Christian praise and worship music, including the musical and textual character of worship songs and sets and their role in worship.
    • Work with the Ambrose Arts department to develop a Worship Team ensemble course for credit.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

    • A high level of musical skills (vocal and instrumental) is required.
    • Experience leading a worship music team is required.
    • Experience identifying, recruiting, and developing team members for music and worship ministry is required.
    • A college degree in music is not required but will be considered an asset.

    • Willing and able to work evenings and weekends when required.
    • Able to work outside normal operating hours during exams periods.
