Ambrose University is excited to announce the addition of an ACAC Cross Country Running program for the 2025–26 season.

“I am very excited about our new Cross Country Running Program,” said Ambrose Athletic Director, Colin Kubinec. “We’ve had some team sports introduced and become established in the ACAC over the past few years, and to now add running—a sport with both individual and team components—is an exciting development for us.”

The Lions have begun recruiting for their inaugural team under their new head coach, Dr. Saulo Neves, as they prepare for their first competition in the fall of 2025.

“It feels great to be part of something fresh and to see all the enthusiasm from our teammates and coaches. There’s a sense of anticipation in the air, and I’m looking forward to building team spirit and supporting each other through the challenges that come our way,” said Neves. “I hope to create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters personal growth, teamwork, and resilience. Ultimately, I want our team to become competitive within the ACAC while encouraging lifelong friendships and a sense of community among our runners.”

Ambrose will be hitting the trails soon, as the race toward day one quickly approaches. The season will consist of four Grand Prix events, the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championships, and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships for those who qualify.

“We have an excellent head coach in Coach Saulo, and we are excited to build the program and become strong competitors in the ACAC,” said Kubinec. “Let’s go, Lions!”
