Ambrose University Appoints José Cáceres as Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation

January 23, 2026 - Ambrose University is pleased to announce the appointment of José Cáceres as its new Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation, following a thorough and competitive hiring process. Cáceres officially began his new role on January 19.

A familiar and respected member of the Ambrose community, Cáceres has served as Head Coach of the Men's Volleyball team and as Coordinator of Compliance and High Performance. In a short time at Ambrose, he has made a significant impact on Lions Athletics, earning both ACAC (provincial) and CCAA (National) Coach of the Year honours and playing a key role in elevating athletic programs across the university. 

Cáceres brings a wealth of international experience in athletics administration, teaching, and coaching, having worked with National teams, Professional teams, and other University and Post-secondary Institutions. His leadership, mentorship, and commitment to student-athlete development have been widely recognized by colleagues and students alike. 

As Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation, Cáceres will oversee the continued growth and excellence of Lions Athletics while supporting a holistic vision of athletics that aligns with Ambrose's mission and values. He will continue as Head Coach of the Men's Volleyball team through the remainder of the current season, with future leadership of the program to be determined this spring.
