Ambrose University is pleased to announce the appointment of Maureen Hickman as Senior Program Coordinator for the Church of the Nazarene Modular Course of Study.
September 25, 2025 – Calgary, Alberta – Ambrose University is excited to announce the appointment of Maureen (mo) Hickman to help spearhead the new Church of the Nazarene Course of Study offering at Ambrose.
As the official educational provider for the Church of the Nazarene, Canada, Ambrose University now offers the newly developed non-degree Course of Study—a video-based program designed to equip leaders for ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. The Nazarene Modular Course of Study also flows into either the Master of Divinity, Master in Leadership and Ministry, Master in Intercultural Ministries or the Master of Christian Studies programs providing 24 credits of advanced standing with credit—giving students seamless options for continuing graduate level education.
“We’re making faithful, forward-thinking decisions to ensure Ambrose remains a strong, Christ-centred place of learning, and a reliable partner to meet the needs of today’s church,” said Rev. Dr. Bryce Ashlin-Mayo, President of Ambrose University, “We invite the church to pray with us and partner with us in this important work.”
Part of the launch of the Nazarene Course of Study was the need for a coordinator to support the delivery, implementation and quality assurance for the program. Mo not only has an intimate knowledge of Ambrose, being a graduate herself, but also has an understanding of the Church of the Nazarene, her home denomination and the denomination she currently serves in as an Associate Pastor at Vancouver First Church of the Nazarene. She graduated from Ambrose University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Theology degree and went on to complete a Masters of Theological Studies at Regent College. She was recently ordained as an elder in June 2025 in the Canada Pacific District.
When asked about the role, Hickman stated, "I am excited to support Canadian Nazarene students preparing for vocational ministry. I believe this opportunity will strengthen the work of the Church of the Nazarene in Canada, and I look forward to helping our newest pastors succeed in the work God has called them to do."
