Your Donation Will Be Matched!

When you give you are helping students to again feel that they belong at Ambrose—mind, body and soul—and in a way that no other place provides. In addition, your donation before July 31 will be doubled through a matching gift of up to $100,000!

As we prepare to welcome back students this fall, I am aware that two years of disruption and physical separation have taken their toll. Students have become accustomed to remote learning and decreased socialization, both challenging their well-being.

Where loneliness in college students ranged from 2.5 to 18.4% before the pandemic, a recent study reports that 56.7% of college students are experiencing moderate levels of loneliness and 23.6% feel severely lonely. Surely the lack of community on campus is a factor.

Afope came to take Christian Studies after his social work degree because of the community that he saw on campus. He got involved and took on a leadership role in the Commuter Lounge and then the pandemic changed everything.

Afope Sanyade (2022 Undergrad Valedictorian) found a community and sense of belonging at Ambrose.

Life on campus has not felt the same for over 2 years. The support of our Alumni and friends helped us find new ways to stay connected through IT upgrades that enabled professors to find new ways to keep that sense of connection. Afope is grateful for his professors, like Dr. Colin Toffelmire, who created space for students to linger after class on Zoom to chat and connect, but it didn’t fully replace in-person connection. With campus opening up again and as planning for the Fall 2022 semester gets underway, student leaders are looking to rebuild that sense of community in new and stronger ways. That sense of belonging matters in the lives of students like Afope.

The conversations and prayers that happen informally are just as important for student development as time spent in the classroom. Your support helps foster these key interactions through which students process what they are learning, deepen their commitment to truth, and grow their ability to engage with differing perspectives.

Would you consider making a matched gift to help us bring students back to the community life that is so essential to their development and transformation?
