Lions Dominate on senior Night

In their last home game of the season, the Ambrose Lions looked to clinch 3rd in the South division going into playoffs.  The Lions came out firing in what was graduating senior, Matt Francisco's last home game in the Den. 

On a night where Nhail Phillip didn't dress due to an injury, the Lions used their depth to their advantage.  1st year forward, Isaiah Friesen and 4th year forward Isaac Amsing picked up the slack in his absence.  Friesen shot well from the paint going 4-5, good for 8 points while Amsing, picked up a double-double with 14 rebounds and a team high 25 points. 

Ambrose's offence proved that they can score in a multitude of different ways, whether that is with the 3, or down in the paint.  For the 4th time in the last 6 games, the Lions were able to score over 100 points and really are starting to get in a groove offensively as the head into the ACAC playoffs for the 2nd time in the programs short history in the ACAC.

From the first quarter, the Lions controlled the game as they led by 15 after 1 quarter of play and 19 at half.  While there were times where Olds went on runs from the 3 point line and in the paint, the Lions calmly responded each time.

The Player of the Game for the Olds Broncos was awarded to Muktar Mohamed who lead the team with 29 points and Matt Francisco for the Lions as he played a really strong overall game in his last game at home. 

The two teams rematch tomorrow night in what is what will be the final game of the season for Olds and the last chance for the Lions to ensure they are firing on all cylinders heading into playoffs.
