First Year Courses for Undergraduate Programs

Body

Congratulations once again on your admission to Ambrose University! We understand that the transition to post-secondary can be stressful, and we want to make sure that you are set up for success. On this page you will find helpful tips and recommended courses for your first year at Ambrose!

When choosing your classes, here are some tips:

  • 5 courses, or 15 credits, may work well for students with a strong academic history and minimal commitments outside of the classroom, such as a part-time jobs, athletics, church involvement or family commitments
  • Beginning with 3-4 courses (9-12 credits) allows for an easier transition to university for many students, and allows additional time for other commitments
  • 9 credits are typically the minimum requirement for full-time student status, with implications for loans and other funding
  • 16.5 credits are the maximum allowed in any one semester
  • UNI 101 is required for all new students. It is recommended that you take this course in the Fall semester.
  • If you are a transfer student, please book an appointment with your Academic Advisor to help plan out your first-year courses
  • For information about course descriptions, pre-requisites, program requirements, and more, please refer to the Academic Calendar
