Meet Ambrose Faculty Dami Adingupu

My name is Damilola Deborah Adingupu. I was born in Nigeria, spent my formative years in the United Kingdom where I did my undergraduate and postgraduate education. I am a daughter of a King (yes the King of kings), wife to an amazing man and mom to three wonderful children. I describe myself as a woman who serves in multiple ministries. Serving in my primary ministry as a wife and raising children with God-first principles, serving as a researcher at the University of Calgary and as a Lecturer in Biology at Ambrose and in marriage ministry at TheMarriageAdvocates Canada. I am passionate about seeing people thrive in whatever God has called them to.

What does Black History Month mean to you? 

Black History month for me is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate all that people of color has contributed and continue to contribute to our society. It’s an opportunity to acknowledge where society has got it wrong in the past and be honest about the fact that we are still not there as a society where people have same opportunities or are treated equally regardless of the color of their skin.    

Who is one of your Black Heroes and why? 

My mother is my only Black Hero. She raised 5 children with God-first principles despite the challenges of domestic abuse, societal injustice, limited resources and all 5 children remain in Christ because of her living out her faith. She went back to school and got a PhD in theology, while running multiple ministries, championing the poor and advocating for widows and orphans.
