Spiritual Life

At Ambrose, we make space for you to express your faith and to reflect spiritually on the things that you learn. As part of our community of faith, you’ll have company for your walk with God: faculty, staff and fellow students will be with you every step of the way.

Campus Chaplain

Ambrose Campus Chaplain Terry Fach
Our Campus Chaplain is entrusted with fostering spiritual life and growth at Ambrose. By overseeing regular worship services and special events, selecting guest speakers, mentoring worship leaders and much more, the Chaplain encourages a dynamic and challenging spiritual atmosphere on campus. The Chaplain is also an educator, introducing students to a variety of forms of Christian religious expression through the use of liturgy and spiritual practices.

Worship at Ambrose

Worship in Chapel at Ambrose University
Chapel Services

Three times every week we set aside time to worship together as a campus community. These chapel services are an opportunity to worship God by singing, praying and hearing from the Word.

Ambrose faculty, staff and students, as well as many guest speakers, present the message and share from their faith journeys. Student worship teams lead the congregation in song.

These services are designed to unite us as a faith community and motivate and challenge us to be active, caring contributors to our world. They are also an excellent venue for learning about different expressions of Christian faith and mission.

Service Times

Tuesday and Thursday
11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Ambrose gymnasium and online:

If you want to get involved in chapel services, talk to the Campus Chaplain.

Chapel Recordings

We record all of our chapel talks so that you can catch up on services you missed, share or re-listen to messages that were meaningful to you. Chapels can be found on our university Facebook page.

Spiritual Emphasis Days

Each Fall semester, we take a couple of days off classes and set aside this time specifically to focus on spiritual life, both individual and communal. This sets the tone for the semester, drawing focus to the importance of reflecting spiritually throughout the busy academic year.

Prayer Room

On campus we have a quiet place where you can go to pray alone or with a small group. This beautiful, small space has been designed specifically to help you retreat from the busyness of your day-to-day life and direct your thoughts toward God.

The Prayer Room is L2059 on the second floor of Mjolsness Hall. You’ll recognize it by its colourful painted glass wall.

The residence buildings also each have rooms set aside for quiet prayer.

Small Groups

There are many student-led groups on campus that enable you to connect more deeply with your fellow students as you explore a certain aspect of your spiritual life. Such groups have included Bible studies, women’s or men’s groups, and prayer teams.

For more information on existing small groups or for help starting your own, contact the Student Life office.

Local Church

Although Ambrose is a faith community that offers you regular fellowship and great ways to serve, our community isn't meant to be a substitute for church. We encourage you to expand your Christian community outside Ambrose by becoming part of one of the many diverse and vibrant congregations in and around Calgary.

If you want information about local churches that you could get involved in, contact the Student Life office.
