The International Advisor is responsible to increase the quantity and quality of international students enrolling at Ambrose and for recruiting new inquiries and working with them through the application process to the point of registration. The Advisor promotes programs to incoming international students as they transition into life in Calgary and at Ambrose.

The position is part-time, 24 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

External (25%)

  • Represent Ambrose to the international community (e.g., churches, high schools, organizations, etc.).
  • Liaise with prospective students, teachers, counselors, parents, and pastoral staff to promote programs and provide program information.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for annual recruitment trips.
  • Coordinate international career fairs, conference bookings, and logistics to ensure suitable booth space is reserved in a timely manner.
  • Ensure pertinent Ambrose marketing materials are distributed at events.
  • Initiate and give presentations at events as needed.
  • Aggressively collect prospective student information for follow up.
  • Advise prospective students and families on post-secondary options. This includes promoting admissions, financial aid, and program information.

Inquiries (15%)

  • Gain new leads and follow up with them in a timely manner.
  • Increase the conversion of inquiries to applicants.
  • Communicate international admission process to inquiries.

Applicants (50%)

  • Personally communicate with international applicants.
  • Increase the conversion of applicants to students.
  • Communicate international admission and acceptance process to applicants.
  • Communicate applicant reporting to the Student Life team for the Fall and Winter cycles.

Documentation (10%)

  • Maintain records of when student permits will expire in the student information system and send reminders.
  • Implement changes to the international student admissions pages on the website as needed.
  • Gather and store Study Permit scans in the student information system.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Experience with marketing is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in Enrolment.
  • 1-2 years of experience using a student information system (e.g. Jenzabar, etc.)
  • Experience in computer technology. This includes Microsoft 365 and Student Information Systems.

Skills

  • Able to quickly learn and maintain substantial knowledge regarding international admission processes.
  • Strong information technology skills (e.g., Microsoft 365, Jenzabar, etc.).
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Able to form and maintain relationships with schools, churches, and other organizations internationally.
  • Able to manage a travel schedule.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize within tight deadlines.
  • Able to ensure that pertinent information is communicated in a timely manner.

Personal Characteristics

  • Be in agreement with Ambrose’s values, mission, vision, and statements of faith.
  • Must have a quality of spirit that will be reflected in a growing relationship with God and interpersonal relationships.
  • Sensitive and able to work with a diversity of people and cultural groups.

Other

  • Driver’s license with clear driving record is required.
  • Must be eligible to rent a card.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Able to lift 30+ lbs.

Additional Information
  • A compensation package commensurate with education and experience is available.
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background criminal check.
  • In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
