Ambrose University’s Benjamin Farley has been named the 2025 ACAC South Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year, recognizing an outstanding first season that showcased his versatility, leadership, and impact on the court.

Farley, originally from Perth, Australia, made an immediate impression in his debut season with the Ambrose Lions. Spending the majority of his time at the outside hitter position, he surpassed 100 points in his first year despite playing seven matches as a libero. Farley was the only first-year athlete on the team to play in all 69 sets. His ability to adapt and contribute in multiple positions made him a key player for the Lions.

“Ben’s impact on our team this season has been incredible. His adaptability, work ethic, and willingness to help the team, along with his ability to contribute as both a libero and an outside hitter, speak volumes about his skill and commitment,” said Ambrose head coach Jose Cáceres. “I believe this season has also been a great learning experience for him. This recognition is well deserved, and I couldn’t be prouder of him.”

Statistically, Farley delivered across the board, tallying 20 service aces, 87 digs, 16 assists, 80 kills, and eight blocks. He led the team in digs, serving as a source of momentum and energy in key moments. His growth over the season was evident as he transitioned from an individual competitor to a team-driven player dedicated to the Lions’ success.

Farley’s standout performances included a career-high nine digs against the Rustlers on November 9, 2024, and a career-high 10 kills in a three-set sweep over Medicine Hat on January 18, 2025. His ability to rise to the occasion in high-pressure situations set him apart as a player to watch in the ACAC.

The ACAC South Rookie of the Year award will be formally recognized at the 2025 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship, hosted by Lakeland in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.

Additionally, the Ambrose University Women's Volleyball team was blessed with two all-conference selections during the Elite Promotional Marketing 2025 ACAC Women’s Volleyball Championship Banquet on February 19, 2025. Outside hitter Elise Wagner took home her second all-conference award while middle blocker, Brooklyn Deol, picked up her first of her career.

Wagner finished the regular season with 187 kills, 160 digs, 27 aces and 223 points! Deol had an excellent performance herself, finishing the regular season with 95 kills, 44 digs, 35 blocks, and a 320 attack average!

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is delighted to announce the student-athletes chosen by conference coaches for the 2024-2025 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Teams. Selections were made by ACAC Coaches through a ranking system, taking into account factors such as statistical performance, impact on team success, skill level, and consistency throughout the season.
