Gathering Dew Wednesdays during Lent (March 5 - April 17) 7:45 a.m. - 7:55 a.m. | Kirk Prayer Room You are invited into a time of stillness during the season of Lent. Staff, students and faculty are welcome! The sound of a small bell will begin and end the time of quiet. Sit. Listen. Breathe. Eyes opened or closed. Enter and leave without speaking. Early Alliance writers drew on Hosea's image of the dew (Hosea 14) to understand the comfort and grace of God that comes in stillness. "Do you ever get fretted, or heated, or tired, or passionate? Do you ever wonder why God does not refresh you? Get quiet and cool, and Lo! From the surrounding air, which is full of God, you will gather drops of refreshing dew which will rest, and quiet, and calm you. God is always full of quiet and restful love, and we must get quiet to take it in, and our hearts will be full of praise. Look up and feel that you touch Him and then rest in Him. God is not far from every one of us." - A.B. Simpson. |

Simpson. |

Make Your Voice Heard on Textbook Tariffs The Canadian Government has proposed new tariffs beginning April 2 including university textbooks. Students will be the most impacted by this proposed 25% tariff. The Canadian government is accepting comments until April 2 using this form: Consultations on Canada’s Response to United States Tariffs on Canadian Goods: Comment Submission Form. The following guide speaks directly to the proposed textbook tariff and gives ideas for your submission: 1. Educational materials are essential, not luxury items 2. Canadian students and institutions bear the cost, not U.S. interests 3. The tariff offers no benefit to the Canadian education system or economy 4. There are few viable domestic alternatives for most specialized textbooks 5. This creates a direct barrier to educational access during economic challenges The specific tariff code is 4901.99.00 - use this code to speak directly to the textbook section. Black History Month Campus Celebration Tuesday, Feb. 25 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. | Lower Atrium Join us for a celebration with food, dance and song! The Ambrose University Singers will be performing "Stick with Love", composed by Aaron Manswell and inspired by a MLK speech. ""I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear." is a timeless quote from civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I joined my own words, expanding on this powerful quote in order to write this song. A typical reason why we hate is out of fear, and we fear what we don't understand. "Stick with Love" is a reminder that if we search for all information to understand a subject before landing on a conclusion there would be less hatred in the world." -Aaron Manswell, Composer from Toronto, Ontario |
