Topic: Christian Mission in the Meantime: What the Ascension Means for Engaging the Mission of God Today

Note: This lecture is available to attend online and in person. In-person attendees are welcome to attend a reception with light refreshments following the lecture. 

Speaker Bio: Dr. Gordon T. Smith has served as president of Ambrose University since the summer of 2012. Alongside his duties as president, Dr. Smith also holds the position of professor of systematic and spiritual theology at Ambrose. Dr. Smith will be concluding his tenure at Ambrose in the coming months. Dr. Smith has a particular interest in topics such as the nature of conversion and religious experience, spiritual discernment and effective decision-making, the sacraments, and the question of calling and vocation. He is the author of a number of publications including Welcome Holy Spirit: A Theological And Experiential Introduction (IVPress, 2021) and Your Calling Here and Now: Making Sense of Vocation (IVPress, 2022). He is an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Dr. Smith is married to Joella, and together, they have two grown sons and six grandchildren.
