Essay Question
In your opinion, describe and give examples on what it means to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually in your life as a student.
The basis for marking the essay will be the following:
1. Argument/Development of Thesis
- thesis statement is compelling
- key terms/concepts are defined or explained
- evidence supports claims
- evidence subject to persuasive analysis
2. Structure/Organization
- introduction is focused and highlights thesis statement
- topic sentences develop thesis statement
- transitions between paragraphs are clear and logical
- conclusion is consistent with point of argument
3. Quality of Expression
- clarity: response demonstrated, reasonable, personal
- conciseness
- no needless repetition
- well-structured sentences
4. Mechanics
- grammar/syntax
- punctuation
- spelling
- cover page with full name & title
- 500-750 words long
- double-spaced
- 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins
- font: Times New Roman font, size 12
- page numbers
