The Athletic Therapy Supervisor provides leadership, training, and supervision of student Athletic Therapists for the Ambrose Lions varsity sports teams. This role involves hands-on Athletic Therapy work in the clinic and in the field, including demonstration for the student AT’s, as well as managing the clinic hours with the Lions student athletes. The supervisor will also ensure that student athletes receive timely and appropriate care during practices, games, and events.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise student athletic therapists working with varsity teams through modeling, teaching, direct feedback, and being on call.
  • Ensure the accuracy, professionalism, appropriate confidentiality, and completeness of information, diagnoses, and rehabilitation provided to student-athletes.
  • Provide direct supervision of student AT’s in clinic and be on call as needed for various travel and competitive (ie field) scenarios
  • Offer emergency care and on-site rehabilitation at interuniversity competitive events, tournaments, and practices as needed or be on call for student ATs responsible for these duties.
  • Communicate directly with coaches regarding student-athletes' health and fitness status and train student ATs to do the same.
  • Oversee the Ambrose Athletic Therapy room and order and manage medical supplies.
  • Attend 2-3 meetings annually with the MRU Athletic Therapy program.
  • Conduct administrative tasks related to organizing and scheduling student Athletic Therapists.
  • Report directly to the High Performance Coordinator to ensure alignment with overall performance goals and team needs.
  • Maintain regular communication with head coaches and Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coaches regarding athlete health, injury status, and rehabilitation progress.

Skills

  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and health care professionals.
  • Ability to draft correspondence, documentation, and reports.
  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Service-oriented mindset with the capacity to work both independently and within a team.
  • Availability to work flexible hours.
  • Competence in providing internship training to student therapists.

  • Sensitive and able to work with a diversity of people and cultural groups. 

 

Other

  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs occasionally, especially during events or while supervising therapy setups and equipment management.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required by the needs of the athletic therapy program and events.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, as the position may involve travel to off-site locations for events, competitions, or team support.
