Biography

Jemmy Suthandiradas is a psychologist whose research revolves around psychological training skills for female athletes, focusing on various psychological correlates. She developed a six-week module to improve the performance of female athletes through psychological skills training—the first publication of its kind in India.

Originally from Madurai (Tamil Nadu), India, she completed her Bachelor of Psychology at Women’s Christian College (Chennai, India), MSc in Applied Psychology at Bharathiar University (Coimbatore, India), MSc in Psychological Approaches to Health at the University of Leeds (UK), and PhD in Psychology at the University of Madras (Chennai). She has held faculty positions at three post-secondary institutions, including her alma mater, Women’s Christian College, and has extensive experience teaching social and sports psychology, as well as mentoring students in research and service-learning.

Jemmy has no free time because she is the mother of twin elementary school-age girls who are very busy. During her college years, she played national-level badminton, representing her state of Tamil Nadu. Her husband Isaac works in banking and IT.
