The role of the International Student Leader (ISL) is to work with the Student Life Team to promote a supportive atmosphere for International Students that aligns with the Ambrose Mission. The International Student Leader will design and implement community building events that bring international student together and provide individual supports and referrals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Intentionally connect and build relationships with international students
- Assist in organizing and executing activities developed for International Orientation.
- To design and implement educationally meaningful and skill building initiatives that meet the specific needs of international students (i.e design a tax seminar for international students to file Canadian taxes, cultural exchange programming, PR sessions).
- Participate in Social Media interaction with Ambrose students in promoting International oriented services and events.
- Inform the Student Life staff of major inquiries and emerging needs of international students
- Capturing via videography and/or photography activities developed for International Student events
- Support/coordinate programs and events organized by the international student life team
- Participate in the international student panel
- Promote diversity and intercultural sensitivity on campus through events or public exposure.
- Work with other student leaders on campus to help them engage the international student body and to explore collaborative opportunities.
- Attend weekly meetings with your supervisor
- Attend all International Student services events, including Orientations
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities provided through Student Life services. These may be:
- Student Leader Retreat: TBD
- Student Leadership Training: TBD

Reports to: International and Community Engagement Coordinator
Supervision given: bi-weekly meetings with supervisor
Compensation: There is a $1000.00 honorarium for this position. This position requires about 5 hours/week (on average) throughout the school year.
