Overdue Fines & Lost Books

  • All patrons are emailed a courtesy reminder two days before their books are due and again on the due date. However, it is always the patron's responsibility to return books on time, regardless of whether the courtesy reminder was received. If you are not receiving these automated reminders, please check your spam/junk folder!
  • Overdue materials are charged $1 / item / day overdue. All patrons (except Ambrose Academic) are charged overdue fines for late returns, and payment can be made at the Circulation Desk during open hours by cash, debit, or credit card.
  • Items that have been requested by another patron and are overdue are subject to late fines of $5 / day overdue. All patrons are charged overdue fines for late returns of recalled items.
  • If you have lost a book, please contact the library as soon as possible to arrange replacement. Patrons are responsible for the replacement cost of the book as well as a $15 Lost Item Process Fee. Alternatively, patrons may purchase a replacement copy for the library and then the Lost Item Process Fee is waived.

Requests

  • Ambrose Students and Ambrose Academic patrons are able to request books from the library's circulating collection, both those that are currently signed out as well as those available on the library's shelves.
  • Requests on books available in the library will be filled as soon as possible depending on library staff availability.
  • Requests on books currently signed out trigger a Due Date Notification to the current user allowing them 7 days to return the book. Please allow up to 10 days for these requests to be made available to you.
  • Follow these instructions to request books online.

Renewals

  • Overdue items or items on which a request has been placed may not be renewed.
  • Follow these instructions for renewing your books online.

Course Reserves

  • Required and recommended readings for current classes are kept at the Circulation Desk and are available on a first-come-first-served basis for either two hours or two days, depending on what instructors have requested.
  • Two-hour loans are tied to the library's open hours, and so they may be checked out overnight and returned before the library opens the following morning.
  • Fines of $1 / hour are charged on overdue reserve materials.
  • Find out if the library has a book on reserve by following these instructions.
