Research Assistance

Library staff are available during all open hours and will be happy to help students with their questions. For more in-depth research questions, it is best to call the library during daytime hours (Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm), when professional library staff will be onsite.

Resources and Services

The Ambrose Library website will be your access point for library hours, library services, and library collections including online catalogue access and journal database access.

When prompted to log in to your library account or to gain access to databases or ebooks, use the same credentials that you use to access your Ambrose email account.

More information on how use the library's catalogue and search for electronic sources is available in the Using the Library Catalogue guide.

Print Book Mail Service

For students who live outside the Calgary area but within Canada, we can mail you research materials via Canada Post (if you live outside Canada, see the Other Library Collections section below). This free service is limited to circulating materials only and does not include materials from Reference, Course Reserves, or Special Collections. Please contact the library for more information on this service.

Scanning Service

For students who live outside the Calgary area, we can scan portions of non-circulating materials (e.g., reference books), provided the scans meet the requirements of a "fair dealing" use. This is a free service available to distance students only. Please fill in this form to request a scan, or contact the library for more information on this service.

Other Library Collections

For students who live outside the Calgary area, you may want to search WorldCat to see if there is a library close to you that you can borrow print books from (contact the owning libraries for information on borrowing).

Interlibrary Loan

If you want to access print books that are not in Ambrose Library, nor in a library close to where you live, we recommend you reach out to your local public library—many public libraries provide interlibrary loan services free of charge to their patrons.

For articles not available in our catalogue or databases, you can submit an interlibrary loan request directly to Ambrose Library. We will source the article for you and deliver it to your Ambrose email within two business days.
