Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies
The Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies provides basic preparation for lay ministry or professional ministry. It is designed for students who want to grow in their knowledge of biblical, theological and pastoral ministry studies with the flexibility of open electives to explore their own interests. The Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies may be fully applied to the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies or to the requirements of the Master in Intercultural Ministries, Master in Leadership and Ministry, Master of Christian Studies, or the Master of Divinity program.
Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies Program Requirements (15 credits)
Biblical and Theological Studies (6 credits)
Two of the following:
- OT 502 Pentateuch
- NT 502 Synoptic Gospels or BT 501 Introduction to the Bible*
- THEO 501 The Christian Confession
*BT 501 is recommended for students with limited biblical knowledge upon entry. This course will not function as a prerequisite of 600 level BT/OT/NT courses as OT 502 Pentateuch and NT 502 Synoptic Gospels will, but it will provide a basic introduction to the Old and New Testament.
Personal Formation and Leadership (3 credits)
PT 501 Personal Formation and Development
Open Electives (6 credits)
General Requirements for Completion and Graduation:
- Completion of a total of 15 credits (as outlined above)
- A Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.0
